The Family YMCA of Southeast Mississippi is overjoyed to announce that we are 2026 STEP into Swim Grant Recipients! This is an incredible honor and a huge step forward in our mission to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn to swim, build confidence in the water, and stay safe while having fun.
The STEP into Swim Grant recognizes programs that are committed to making swim lessons accessible and inclusive for all children! With this funding, we will be able to expand our swim lessons and provide scholarship assistance to ensure that no child misses out on learning this vital life skill due to cost barriers.
Learning to swim is not just about fun, it’s about empowering children to feel comfortable and capable in the water, setting them up for a lifetime of healthy activity.
We are so grateful to the grant committee for believing in our mission and investing in the children and families in our community!!

For over 100 years, YMCAs nationwide have been teaching individuals how to swim, and how to safely enjoy pools and other recreational waters. YMCAs have been teaching how swimming and aquatic exercise can improve health, and also teaching how lives can be saved.
